Philosophy Weekend

Hey everybody!

I have the good luck of being in Arlington, VA, this weekend.  This is lucky because it means I'm missing the Nor'easter that has turned Princeton into a snow globe.

I'm in Arlington for a conference on the Scottish Enlightenment.  We're reading Hume and Adam Smith and drinking a lot of beer.  Fun is being had by all.  Plus, it gives me an excuse to dress up.

I don't have much time for this post, but all I really want to do is a workout wrap-up, so here goes...

Thursday's run:
Workout - 1 mile @ 8:00, 2 miles @ 6:50, 1 mile @ 8:00, 2 miles @ 6:50, 1 mile @ 8:00
Total distance - 7 miles
Total time - 52 minutes

This was by far the best speed work I've done in a long time.  Granted, all the speed workouts I've been during are responsible for getting me in shape for this one, but I was really nervous at attempting this pace.  I even wore my lucky shirt to get through it.  Well, the stars aligned for me and I felt GREAT during this workout.  I was even SMILING during it.  Craziness.

And then I iced my MCL because, well, it's been swollen and sore.  Yikes.

Today's run:
Distance - 8 miles
Time - 1:02

Hotel treadmill.  Nothing exciting.  This was definitely necessary for sweating out the beer, though.  :)

Did any of you run any races this weekend?  Awesome long runs?  Gallops through the snow?

  4. I'm glad you had fun in Arlington! That's my stomping ground! Great runs, you area total speed demon! I had a killer run on Saturday that was all negetative splits starting at 8:27 down to 7:15. I was totally stoked, I have never ran 4 sub 8 minute miles back to back, best part was it wasn't a planned run!
