Getting the hard work done

"Yet that man is happy and poets sing of him who conquers with hand and swift foot and strength."                                                                -Pindar

Today's run:

Workout - 2 miles @ easy pace, 3 x .2 mile hill sprint + downhill jog, 1.5 miles @ easy, 3 x .2 mile hill sprint, 2 miles @ easy
Distance - 7.5 miles
Time - 1:02:10

I merged my sprints with hill intervals today and the outcome was a monster of a workout.  Soul crushing.  You know you're workin' hard when I find yourself slumped over trying to catch your breath a few times during the workout.

I was very much dreading this run.  But the first few strides changed my attitude.

Running just feels good.

And that is reason enough to do it.  The final two miles were pure bliss.  I was in a state of exhaustion and I felt elated pondering my own efforts.  Sometimes I surprise myself.  Those are the best surprises in life.

Then I colored my hair:
Since I'm so fancy, I use boxed hair color from the supermarket.  L'Oreal Preference is my preference.  This color is slightly darker than my usual color.  The problem is that the sun bleaches out my hair about a month after I color it, so it gets increasingly blonde.  I went darker this time as a way of restarting, I guess.

Do any of you color your hair?  Do you ever try out new colors?

  2. I tried bleaching my tips when I was younger (boy band craze?) and it didn't take - my gingerness is pretty strong.

    1. I totally remember when bleached tips were the craze! Embrace the gingerness! My in-laws are all gingers and I love it. I'm really hoping I have a ginger kiddo one day.

  3. Sprints plus hills those are my two least favorite things and yet you still look so happy. Awesome for you!

    1. Yeah, sprints and hills kill me too. I actually decided to combine them for the sake of knocking them both out at once! Lol. That's my confession!

  4. Running does just feel good, doesn't it? :) I die my hair dark because I feel smarter and sassier that way!

  5. I haven't colored my hair in years, but I always used the box stuff when I did. I am wayyy too cheap to get it done professionally! I love your new look! Awesome run!

    1. Yes, I cannot tolerate the idea of giving someone 60 bucks or more just to put color on my hair. I figure they are probably using the same stuff that is in the box. How else are they making a profit and covering their overhead?

  6. That first picture is making my hear sing. Wouldn't it be amazing if that was real? I have some sprints in a few weeks for half training and I know I'll need a track but I'd totally rather have a field with lanes. You hair looks adorable!! I haven't died my hair in years - a fond memory though is my mother buying a box with an asian woman on the front and being like here this is a good color to get your hair back to its normal color (very dark black) OH MY HAIR WAS AS BLACK AS A WITCHES WIG. This was in middle school too. I prefer not to think about it too much haha.

    1. Aww. I felt the same way when I saw the picture. I wanted to jump into it, like they do on Mary Poppins. That's pretty hilarious about the asian woman hair color. Lol! Why did you need to return it to black, though? Had you tried to lighten it?
